Meet Schedule Posted

I have posted a printable version of the Meet schedule on the right hand navigation bar. You can use this for a quick reference of the meets. I have also taken the liberty of "pre-counting" the meets so that everyone can clearly see that we have only 14 meets. We may only have 13 meets depending on what happens with Manual. Enjoy.

Why does the Woodruff/Manual meet count as two varsity meets when all the varsity invites and conference count as one meet. Also, doesn't sectionals and state count as varsity meets?

The rules states that you can have 14 Varsity competitions, not including the State Series. Therefore the Sectional and State Swim meets do not count toward the 14 meet rule. I am not sure how to count the Woodruff/Manual meet. If we swim a triangular, the meet will only count as one. If we swim a double dual, then the meet counts as two. If Manual doesn't show up, it could be a forfeit or a meet that never happened.

Perhaps the midstate 6 coaches think-tank is working on all the mathematical permutations of this schedule as we speak and will weigh in on it shortly before sectionals.

Why is it, that Manual can not show up for a meet and there is no public ridiculing by the MS 6 coaches for “trying to belittle the value of the conference”? I thought there was a contract.

Maybe it is ridiculing but it should be contempt. The “spirit” of the conference is demonstrated no less than by the exclusion of the Notre Dame coaches from the JS Sports Forum letter published last November which was signed “M-S 6 Swimming/Diving Coaches”. The hypocrisy is so thick you need to swim through it.

I didn't realize that I would open such a can of worms by posting my schedule.

For Conference dual meets, there are no contracts. This fact is what makes the Manual meet so confusing. Since there isn't a contract, it really can't be classified as a forfeited meet when they don't show up.

It was not your schedule Shawn, it was the emphasizing the “pre-counting” which tripped my trigger. That, along with the mention of Manual and the reference to their apparently acceptable idiosyncrasies, which made me finally realize that the “District 150 Swimming and Diving Coaches”, hiding behind the façade of “building the conference back up”, are in effect driving a wedge between Notre Dame and the Public Schools.

In an attempt at fairness, I must point out there is enough blame to go around which covers both sides of the fence. All of this, in my mind, can be attributed to lack of effective communication. The District 150 Coaches and Staff need to be assured that Notre Dame is committed to the M-S 6 Conference. This rumor of Notre Dame wishing to designate certain conference meets as JV, as pointed out in their letter, is understandably insulting and needs to be stopped dead in its’ tracks. All athletes and the schools which they represent, regardless of ability, need to be treated with the respect they deserve from the understanding of the sacrifices they have made in order to compete. This respect needs to come from the school administration, the coaches, the parents, the fans, and the athletes.
