2006-2007 Season Goals.

I have always thought that the goals we set for ourselves have a funny way of turning into reality. I will never forget Kevin Gorman climbing out of the pool after his 100 butterfly and walking over to the wall with our goals. He slapped the wall where his goal had been hanging all season. You may remember the vow (goal) that I made back in May 2005. At the time, it was pretty much a half-baked display of machismo, but we focused on that goal. In the end, it was our focus and committment that turned it into reality.

Here are the goals that I have outlined for next season. I would really like each one of you to respond with a comment that includes your goals for next season. Remember to leave your name. Parents and friends should feel free to post their goals too.

1) Win Sectionals
2) Score 12 Points at the State Swim Meet.
3) Qualify all three relays for the State Swim Meet.
4) Find and recruit 2 more highly talented assistant coaches.
5) Have the fastest school records in the area. (long term goal).

I went to state in both of my relays and scored points because I swam yearround. I swam a 48.5 in the 100 and a 1:50 in the 200 because I perfected my stroke, tempo, and flipturns.

I swam at sectionals in whatever coach puts me in. I broke 5:00 in the 500 freestyle. I worked on and swam the fly in our dual meets. I went a 53 or less in the 100 frestyle and I worked hard and went a 1:54 in the 200 frestyle, I went a 23 or less in the 50 frestyle and went to state in a relay.

We won sectionals because more people came to morning practice not because they had to but because they wanted to, because everyone did something over the summer to better their times, and because everyone cheered when there was a Notre Dame swimmer in the water.
Furthermore, because we without a doubt believed that we could.

I went a 22:00 in the 50 freestyle because I trained year-round, I worked on my starts, and I worked on my flipturns.
I went a 58:00 in the 100 Backstroke because I trained year-round and I worked on my starts, turns, and breakouts.
We won conference and sectionals because we worked as a team, everyone swam their best races to give us the win in each meet.
We went undefeated in dual meets because of our teamwork and individual efforts.
I never missed a practice, morning or regular, because of my determination to make my senior year my best year.
I qualified for state in at least one event because all of the things I said above.

I swam the 500 freestyle in less then 6:00 because I dedicated myself to my goal by perfecting my flip-turns and enhancing my stroke. I practiced the tempo of my stroke to not only be "long and strong" but also quick enough to finish before six minutes hits the time board. I contributed to our team victory at Sectionals because I increased our energy by stepping up at Conference and by being an example of faith and commitment to the team.

I swam varsity and on the conference and sectional winning varsity relays. I placed at conference in my individual events by going a 23.00 in the 50 free and 53.00 in the 100 free. We won conference and sectionals because we focused on sectionals and never missed a workout. We also had more fun then any team in the state while being extremely successful.
